This piece is part of a set of three called Te Whare Atua. Whiro Te Tipua specifically speaks to the journey one must take in order to overcome the many whakawhiu a Whiro, the many negative thoughts and afflictions that Whiro Te Tipua throws at humans on a daily basis, whether physcially, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. It also embodies the resilience and strength that we have as humans to overcome these matarino or whakawhiu that Whiro throws at us everyday.
